July 6, 2021 Do you have a “Biblical Worldview? Or does a “syncretism” perspective define your view of life? Why did Yeshua tell the disciples to wait (tarry in Jerusalem) just before His ascension?… “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” luke 24:49 nkjv A new study by longtime evangelical Christian researcher George Barna finds that 94% of Americans do not hold a biblical worldview. The study found that the most common worldview among Americans (88%) might best be termed syncretism, said Barna, describing it as a "disparate, irreconcilable collection of beliefs and behaviors that define people's lives." "Syncretism is a cut-and-paste approach to making sense of life," he explained. "Rather than developing an internally consistent and philosophically coherent perspective, Americans embrace points of view or actions that feel comfortable or most convenient. Those beliefs and behaviors are often inconsistent, or even contradictory, but few Americans seemed troubled by that." To me, it is not possible that one, claiming to be a Christian, can “intellectually” (natural strength) navigate the stormy waters of life without the inner dwelling of Yahweh’s Holy Spirit guiding them in a Biblically sound “worldview.” As Barna’s research shows, there are too many deceptive and attractive distractions that the carnal mind prefers over the “spiritual” mind filled with the Word of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit… therefore, Yeshua warned the disciples to receive the enduing power of His Holy Spirit before attempting to minister in His behalf… That is yet true for believers today, even more so as we approach the turbulent end of days deception and chaos “in the streets.” In Psalms 26, David prays to God: Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart. 3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth. 4 I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, Nor will I go in with hypocrites. 5 I have hated the assembly of evildoers, And will not sit with the wicked…” ps 26:2-5 nkjv David first said: “Vindicate me, O Lord, [A] For I have walked in my integrity. [B] I have also trusted in the Lord; [C] I shall not slip.” ps 26:1 nkjv We could say, A+B=C… can we honestly proclaim the same thing as David? Now, this is not to disregard the grace whereby we are saved, through faith in Yeshua (and rely on self works)… it is simply to say, IF we are saved, are we honestly walking in such a way that our profession of the same could apply? Too often, it seems, that some claiming Christ for salvation are forgetful in honest evaluation of their careless ways… with too much “creeping syncretism” dulling their testimony of their Christian identity. Let us be careful to self-examine our Worldview and make sure our ways identify with the Biblical expectations implied. Shalom… John |
