September 21, 2021 “The Feast of Tabernacles;" the season of our joy lev 23:33-43 nkjv As I write the words of this devotional, it is the season of the Biblical “feast” [moed, or appointed time] for the Feast of Tabernacles [Sukkot]… one of the Seven God commanded “feast of the LORD.” Leviticus, chapter 23, lists all the feast and their meanings. Yahweh [God of Israel] is a demonstrative King… who intends for His people to celebrate and rejoice; and the seventh, last annual feast, is known to be the “season of our Joy.” A time to rejoice and celebrate the blessings and providence that Yahweh has abundantly poured out on the faithful who love and obey His teachings and instructions that He has provided for our good and well being… The seven “moed” are a show and tell pattern of divine plans that define the working of Yahweh in the affairs of men and His preview of what He is doing and when He intends to do it… through the work of the Messiah. The term Tabernacle means “booths” or “tent,” for the most part, as it is used in this scripture. The first Yahweh designed “tabernacle” was, in Hebrew, “miskan” or “ohel,” and would be Yahweh’s dwelling place among the Children of Israel… It was the place where Moses and Aaron met with Yahweh and did business on His terms. It was a Holy place, and it was a “tent,” designed for fellowship with our Creator… with certain ordinances and instructions for its purpose. It was the place where Yahweh put His Name and His Presence was found. Not just anyone could “enter into” the Tabernacle. A set apart [sanctified] High Priest was the only priest, of the priesthood, who could enter the “Most Holy Place.” And that was a “moed” as well, known as Yom Kippur. All of this, and the divine choreographed theater [if I may use that term] was to point towards the coming Messiah Yeshua… our eternal High Priest, who stands at the side of Yahweh in Heaven, ministering on our behalf, a Holy Place where only He can go… yet through HIM we can enter in! We are each “tabernacles” in which He dwells. 2 cor 6:15-17 nkjv With the above in mind; let us consider the “characteristics” of David’s question: “LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle?” “Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill? 2 He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart; 3 He who does not backbite with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor does he take up a reproach against his friend; 4 In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He who swears to his own hurt and does not change; 5 He who does not put out his money at usury, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall never be moved.” Ps 15:1-5 nkjv The Bible is an amazing collection of “overlaid” themes that intertwine and flow through thoughts and patterns of ideas and concepts… to me, it is no accident or coincidence, that this reading date of the Psalms 15 “question,” is set in a “moed” to match and define “WHO,” may celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (a foretelling of the wedding feast of the Lamb with His Bride at the end of the age). On the Hebrew calendar, [the seventh month] date, Tishrei 15, is the “Moed;” the date [Sukkot/Tabernacles] is to begin… think about it. Thankfully, Yeshua has purchased our destiny to join that great coming day! Shalom… John |
