| “For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.” ps 138:2b nkjv

January 3, 2023 What does it mean that Yahweh “has magnified His word above all His name?”The Psalmist says in Psalms 119:89; “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven.” ”Which” Word is this…? Of course, it is the infallible Voice of Yahweh from the mountain [Mt Sinai] when Moses met with Him face to face… the same Word that was engraved in the tablets of stone by the Finger of Yahweh. It is known as the Torah, the “instructions” that Yahweh gave us to live by. Exodus Chapter 20. It is the same word that the Bible, in John 1:1 says: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” And, in John 1:14 it goes on to say: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” The same Torah from the mountain, then engraved in stone, was with the coming of Yeshua [the new Covenant], written upon our hearts and in our minds. Yeshua in us, Christ, the hope of glory. This is why the bible tells us, John speaking, “...Greater is He that is in you, then he that is in the world.” 1 jn 4:4 nkjv Yahweh’s Name is Holy, Sacred… the “word” magnified above His Name is Yeshua, the incarnate Creator of Heaven and Earth and all that is in them. In mat 28:18, Yeshua said: “...All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” Further, Paul says in phil 2:9-11, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” When David, in Psalms said, “For You have magnified Your word above all Your name,” he was seeing into the prophetic realm and foretelling the exalted one, Yeshua the Messiah. There is a divine connection between David’s words in the Psalms and the person and doings of the Messiah… for example, in ps 140, verses 12 & 13… “I know that the Lord will maintain The cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor. 13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; The upright shall dwell in Your presence.” And here, the foundation of the “forever settled word,” the work of the Messiah, can been seen in this Psalm: “Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face.” ps 89:14 nkjv It is noteworthy that the word Mercy is from the same root translation as the word “loving-kindness,” and that the word truth is from the same root translation as the word “faithfulness.” In this new year, which I think will bring more challenges and turbulent days [more so than in the past], let us always hope in, and be thankful for, the powerful meaning and importance of the fact that Yahweh in His wisdom and understanding of our needs for preservation in this fallen world, that He chose to set Messiah Yeshua above ALL things in Heaven, and in earth, and under the earth, and even above His own Name… that we are told that we are “kept in Him,” and that in Him we have all things that pertain to life and godliness… “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 pet 1:2-4 nkjv Shalom… John |
