“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:” ecc 3:1 nkjv |
March 24, 2026 What is the meaning of “God’s time and purpose” for each of us? Solomon says in the next verse, ecc 3:2, “A time to be born, And a time to die;” I don’t intend to imply that Yahweh sets brackets around us, although in some cases it may be that He does… what I am pointing out in this devotional is that life has a beginning and an end. Birth and death dates are chiseled on our tombstones. These specific dates have meaning, especially to family and loved ones. They are the “bookends” of our lives on this earth. The Psalmist writes: “The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” ps 90:10 nkjv What are your thoughts on this fundamental reality of every living thing? Solomon observed this: “What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end. 12 I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13 and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. "I know that whatever God does, One of the greatest privileges we have as believers is to be able to read and study what Yahweh has said… about life, death, Heaven, Hell, and life in general and how we should live it in harmony with Him and our fellow man. It truly is a place of peace and hope to have our minds and hearts founded upon Yahweh’s perspective… and His promises to us. I think. We are coming up to the Spring Passover and Easter season, Passover is a Biblically appointed time, a memorial of the Exodus of God’s people from Egyptian bondage. His mighty demonstration of His deliverance. Easter is a traditional celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus… with its roots in Roman Catholic dogma; yet we believers who attend the “appointed time” of the Passover also rejoice with our Christian Brethren in the reality of the Christ “who is Risen, risen indeed!” Thereby, we also have that hope of our own resurrected souls in days to come. Whichever commentative event you celebrate, now is the time of “heart preparation” for celebrating these most significant events in human history. These thoughts bring me to another subject… what happens after [when] you die… ? Monte Judah [Lion & Lamb Ministries] publishes a monthly journal… this months edition has an excellent commentary on this life after death issue… the pdf file link is here. This link will direct you to Lion & Lamb Ministries website post of the same article. It is certain that all of us have an appointment with our “end of days.” I hope you are comfortable in your relationship with your Heavenly Father… this appointment is like no other… it is time to evaluate our lives and real condition of our hearts. While Christ has paid the way for us into the afterlife in a redeemed condition, it is up to us to clean out the clutter and carelessness of things that smudge and disfigure our attire… you think? How do we look when we reflect our lives in the mirror of the Word of God? Shalom, John |
| “knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” rom 6:9-11 nkjv |
