August 16, 2022 Can we approach a Divine, Holy, Righteous God, as David does with these words?” “You have tested my heart; You have visited me in the night; You have tried me and have found nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. 4 Concerning the works of men, By the word of Your lips, I have kept away from the paths of the destroyer. 5 Uphold my steps in Your paths, That my footsteps may not slip.” ps 17:3-5 nkjv When I read and study the Psalms, I get the understanding that David really did know Yahweh’s heart, and he understood the nature and character of Yahweh… David also understood the awesome and mighty fierceness of the Supreme Creator. Yahweh was both kind and Just; it is especially important to know that the Justice of Yahweh was (is) simply that He performs His Word faithfully and fully, in His time… you can be sure He will continue doing so. One must not let the pause between evil deeds and execution of Justice, and “nothing happening,” be mistaken for, “ well maybe Yahweh did not see or pay attention to my sin, or evil deed.” Consider this: “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. ” ecc 8:11 nkjv “Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?” rom 2:4 nkjv If we can, with an honest and pure heart, proclaim what David did in the Psalms quoted above, and know the certainty of Proverbs 21:15, which says: “It is a joy for the just to do justice, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.” Gladly, we can know, there is great comfort in the never ending faithfulness and certainty that abounds to us in David’s declaration concerning the rewards for having an honest, just, and righteous heart for ( and towards) Yahweh. Let us strive to be able to join David in this great privileged. “I have called upon You, for You will hear me, O God; Incline Your ear to me, and hear my speech. 7 Show Your marvelous lovingkindness by Your right hand, O You who save those who trust in You From those who rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings, 9 From the wicked who oppress me, From my deadly enemies who surround me.” ps 17:6-9 nkjv Shalom… John |
