“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”   jos 24:15 nkjv

September 17, 2024

What is a “choice,” and is it a genuine choice if you don’t act on it? When Joshua took charge [leadership] of the Exodus march of the Children of Israel, into Canaan Land, following Moses death, We see the words written in Joshua 1:8 as follows:

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” jos 1:8 nkjv   This scripture is a witness of the importance of having the “seeds of truth” [Yahweh’s Torah] within our hearts and on our lips… and in our thoughts.

When the end of Joshua’s term of “service” was coming to an end, we see the words of Jos 24:15,   in the last chapter of Joshua, where he is once again admonishing the Children of Israel that it really matters whom you will serve… the same is true yet today, and always will be until Yeshua returns to consummate the end of the age events. I saw this following [short] commentary by a Christian book author, which I thought was quite well written… concerning Joshua’s words, which I believe yet today apply to all genuine believers who confess to follow Yeshua [Jesus].

“Everyone must Choose,” An Author [David Telbat] Reflection; Sept 16, 2024 Newsletter

“Dear Friend, David Telbat here. Recently, a friend asked me who I thought would win the Oval Office in the next election. If you’ve read any of my books, then you know I hold no hope in human leaders. Instead, I hold much regard for Scripture and our obedience to its truth. And Scripture does not prophesy of great success under excellent leadership in the last days.

While I appreciate glimpses of morality, humility, and Christ-likeness in any leader, I’m especially eager to see the reign of Jesus Christ, who alone will restore this present earth during the Millennial age. As we await our King to actually deliver us from earth’s broken rule, we all must make a decision about the Word of God.

Every day, we must choose what to do about the Bible. Some are already making it clear which of the following three choices they will declare until the end:

Ignore the Bible entirely. It has always startled me how so many in this modern era both discard and mock the Bible at the same time. The very truth that gives my life meaning, value, purpose, and hope—they ignore. But that is their choice to make. And there will be consequences.

Misinterpret God’s Word and act in the flesh. Those who may not ignore the Bible may still not represent it accurately. It is not uncommon for people to pat themselves on the back as they twist verses in the Holy Scriptures to work for their depraved behavior, political viewpoints, or pleasurable pursuits. But that is their choice to make. And there will be consequences.

Understand God’s intended meaning of His Word and obey it. A few—and only a few (so says God’s Word)—will be faithful to the end, submitting to the Shepherd’s example of self-denial and good works for His sake. Eternal glory is theirs. This is their choice to make. And there will be a great reward. Read 2 Thessalonians 1:6-12,  if you haven’t recently.

Decide today how you will stand for God’s Word in the face of the world’s pressures and pleasures.

See you on the next page!
